The Opportunity
Our client is looking for a Financial Mis-Selling Solicitor to join their growing litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Solicitor with experience in financial disputes to play a key role in a developing department.
The successful candidate will have experience handling financial mis-selling matters, such as PCP finance claims, investment mis selling, PPI, omnibus claims, or other complex consumer finance disputes. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload while contributing to the development of the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload of financial mis-selling litigation matters from instruction through to resolution, ensuring compliance with court deadlines, procedural rules, and internal service standards.
- Conduct detailed legal and factual analysis of claims, reviewing evidence and financial documentation to assess liability, quantum, and litigation strategy.
- Draft, review, and file a wide range of legal documents, including Letters of Claim, Particulars of Claim, witness statements, disclosure documents, applications, and settlement correspondence.
- Liaise professionally with clients, financial institutions, counsel, experts, third parties, and the courts, providing clear and timely updates throughout the litigation process.
- Prepare cases for hearings, mediations, and trial, including the preparation of court bundles, chronologies, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), relevant pre-action protocols, regulatory requirements, and firm policies.
- Identify legal and procedural risks, escalating complex issues where appropriate and supporting the delivery of high-quality legal services.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and technical support to junior paralegals, acting as a first point of contact for legal and procedural queries.
- Review the work of junior team members, providing constructive feedback to ensure accuracy, consistency, and high standards of client service.
- Support the training, onboarding, and ongoing development of junior paralegals through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with the allocation and prioritisation of work across the team to ensure deadlines, productivity targets, and client expectations are met.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of team processes, precedents, and best practice guidance to enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Monitor case progression proactively, identifying opportunities to progress matters efficiently and achieve positive client outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture by promoting professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Keep up to date with developments in financial mis-selling litigation and relevant legislation, sharing knowledge and best practice with the wider team.
About You
- A minimum of 3 years FMS experience as a Litigation Paralegal, with a strong background in financial mis-selling/commercial litigation areas.
- Proven experience managing a complex caseload independently, with a thorough understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and litigation processes.
- Demonstrable experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting the development of junior paralegals, with the confidence to provide technical guidance and constructive feedback.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, colleagues, counsel, and other stakeholders while delivering excellent client service.
